13 Terrifying Books to Read This Fall

 

Spooky Season is upon us! Finally!! Give me all the pumpkins, scarecrows, and scary movies there are. Okay, okay I may be a little earlier, but 2020 has been rough y'all. While movies are great, there is something extra special about getting lost in a book. Finding that magical book that is the perfect mix of suspense, thriller and a few super creepy moments is wonderful to behold. From the classics to more modern fakes on on ghosts, zombies, and killers. There is definitely something for everyone. These 13 terrifying books are perfect to read this fall. 


If It Bleeds by Stephen King



Stephen King is back with 4 new novellas in this collection. A true master of the macabre, King has come back to the novella form time and again. These 4 tales are not onlh spine-tingling but though provoking as his stories always are. Besides, who doesn't love Stephen King?

White Out by Danielle Gerard

TJ Payne has written a book not only gruesome but is a definite page turner. This creepy book is centered around Joe. He works at a facility that is doing human experimentation. Despite experimenfs that went horribly wrong, they did not stop. Now, the process of unlocking hidden abilities is so close to being perfected. Then one day, his work goes home with him. Find out what happens in this unsettling book. 

NOS4A2 by Joe Hill


Charlie Manx drives around in a 1938 Rolls Royse Wraith. He takes his passengers mysteriously all around on roads across the country leading to Christmasland. Along their journey, his small passengers start to transform. Enter, Vic McQueen who has a knack for finding lost things. Just like Charlie Manx, Vic has a special gift. Until one day, Charlie finds Vic. He takes her for a ride but she manages to escape. Years later, she begins her mission to destroy Charlie after he has taken something so very precious to her.

Gilchrist by Christian Galacar


Peter and his wife, Sylvia, move to the New E gland town of Gilchrist. In need of a fresh start after a personal tragedy, the couple feels this lake house is what they need. As they settle in, they begin seeing a strange, scary creature. Several deaths occur and they meet a child who seems to be special. The couple proceeds down a dangerous road that makes them question their decision of moving to this town. 

Kill Creek by Scott Thomas


Horror author Sam McCarver has recieved an invite to spend Halloween at the Finch House. The abandoned house sits in the middle of nowhere. No one has entered the house in years, but this group of 4 writers are up to the task. At least the thought they were. When entering the house, they awaken a dark entity but that wants to make sure they do not survive the night. 

The Whisper Man by Alex North


The town of Weatherbank has a disturbing past. A serial killer roamed the town years ago. Whispering outside his victims windows until her was finally caught. As Tom and his son, Jake, are getting used to their new home after a tragic death, tragedy strikes again. It is reminiscent of the Whisper Man. They unwittingly are drawn into the investigation when Jake hears whispers at his window. Detectives race to find the missing child, but will they find him in time while also protecting Jake?

The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson


This classic novel has been terrifying audiences for years. With multiple TV and movie adaptations, they pale in comparison. When four people enter Hill House, they are not sure what to expect. Among the four is an occult scholar who is determined to get evidence of a true haunting. Their first experiences seem spooky but, little do they know, Hill House is just getting started. 

Are you scared yet? At minimum you should be intrigued. These 13 novel are guaranteed to give you goosebumps as well as a few frights. So, pull up a chaid by the fire, grab your favorite blanket, a cup of tea and prepare to be scared.

  3. This looks good for readers. I am not a fan of scary novels or anything scary that is. But if i was i'd be very excited about this list.
